The REAL Reasons those courses and coaches haven’t worked for you
I'm going to try and keep this as short and succinct as possible, but buckle up because it might be a long one.
LET'S START WITH THE ANSWER: CONTEXT
Context is the reason so many courses and coaches haven't worked for you.
And yes, many times it's in tandem with shitty behavior and flat out lies, but what struck me today was about context and how that is setting you up for failure every👏 damn 👏 time 👏
I'VE SEEN THIS BEFORE
Example 1: I entered the online entrepreneur space in early 2019, and had my first experience with solid experience with this a year later. I've spoken about this before - it's been a pivotal experience for me. I was working with a well-known marketing coach, and I was following her course for IG. I wasn't seeing the results promised, even though I was following her exact process. When I asked her what to do, her response was "well, that's what worked for me."
Normally, when I talk about this, it's to highlight that in hindsight this person clearly wasn't a marketing strategist, and/or because after a few weeks of feeling like I clearly failed, I realized that no, this just wasn't a marketing tactic that would work for me.
But this was also a case of context.
This coach had started using IG Stories when they first came out. When IG was favoring accounts using them, boosting them in the algorithm. Which then helped grow her audience. And yes, the way she leveraged Stories was smart and strategic...but was part of that because she'd already started growing her audience with them? Maybe.
Example 2 comes from another successful, made a million dollars coach. Who talked about how they went from barely affording rent, to an $8k month...because of how hard they worked, and then sold their system.
The missing context:
This person had already had already been making $4k months with a partner. Partner was now gone, biz imploded, hence income decrease. It's a lot easier to start making money again, when you've already been in business and making money than it is if you're someone who's just starting and/or haven't been bringing in clients consistently.
In this person's successful system, they were spending tens of thousands of dollars on ads. You didn't find this out until you'd already bought the course.
Example 3: similar as 2. I saw this sponsored post from a different person a few weeks ago. Talking about her 'low ticket offer course which made her six figures. It isn't until you get way down on her sales page, it says she was spending $30K on ads. Which I'm guessing most of the people who are buying her course don't have.
TODAY IT HIT ME: THE MISSING CONTEXT IS WHY MOST OF THE THINGS YOU/WE'VE TRIED HAVEN'T WORKED
I want to give one more example, because it's what finally made me see that THIS is the reason things don't work.
And this is more than detrimental to our bank accounts, it contributes to us losing confidence in ourselves. To thinking that there's something wrong with us and that's why someone else's successful thing doesn't work for us. I say 'us' because this happens to ME. It happens to many smart women, who have amazing services to share with the world...and aren't. Because sh*t 👏 isn't 👏 working 👏
Example 4 came from one of my clients. This is a woman with a solid corporate business background. She is smart AF. Seriously.
She emailed me with a course some dude is selling. He makes money by monetizing his newsletter, has a course on being profitable on LI, and had some sort of content piece that implies he doesn't do a lot of work but makes a lot of money. She posed a question: "could it really be this simple?"
Here was my answer:
I think that once you establish a set system that works for you, and monetize it, yes, it can be that simple. But I think that’s the ‘catch. ’ Like many who are successful, that’s how it works NOW. He’s not saying how it worked for him at the beginning. I think that’s then actual reality of X and others like him. I’ve bought things from coaches who sell stuff like this, but it’s not until you get deep into it that you realize (at least I do) all the contextual things they don’t tell you.
Btw, I went and looked up this guy on LI. He's been in sales for 20 years. He has 477 thousand followers on LI. Has been an angel investor, etc. I'd be money that even though he claims he's a one-man business, he has a team of people. They may be contractors, and not employees, but I'd still put money on that.
SO THERE YOU HAVE IT. IT'S NOT YOU, IT'S CONTEXT.

Yes, the reason women work with me is because I don't pull any of this b.s. When I say I personalize things, I mean it.
