Release and the art of “Letting Go”

There's been a lot going on energetically the past few days.

  • Jupiter / Neptune conjunction (April 12th)

  • Full Moon (April 16th)

  • Solar storms

  • A lot of general changing and shifting for a lot of people

If you've felt any of this, or just felt off, it's not just you. Honestly, the past few days have felt like a fun house experiment gone wrong for me 🤪

The upside to all of this, is that change can bring good things. It can bring renewal, birth of ideas, and insights.

The downside, is it can be a lot to process and integrate.

One of the things I've been working on, is "letting go."

It sounds like it should be easy, at least according to online influencers. But if you're reading this, then you know how I feel about the b.s. that can be fed to us online. [Sidebar for another email, I'm seeing a shift happening in the online space and suspect there's going to be a wide break from how entrepreneurs are using social media.]

When this theme first started showing up, I was reminded of a book I read during my yoga teach training - Living Your Yoga, by Judith Lasater. I remember that I was reading on a plane, traveling for work. She was talking about something, and I happened to look down at my hands and noticed how tightly I was gripping the book and my highlighter. I immediately softened that grip...and realized how tightly I was holding on to a lot of things in my life.

I would be driving, and happen to glance down at my hands on the steering wheel..and see they were gripped.

When we hold onto things tightly, squeeze them with all our might, we cut off the flow. Flow of energy, flow of ideas, flow of life.

Then we hear/see, a message to let go, and frankly that's just like telling me to not to think about something..which causes me to think harder about it. #nothelpful

Release came up on a client call today. First, it showed up in a card I pulled for her. Second, I looked at her timing on The Pattern App (@jm55446 if you want to connect!), and she's in a period of Release and Advance. We talked about what she wants to release right now. A big thing is social media as a marketing tool, so we talked about what she could do instead.

But it also made me realize that I, too, have been feeling meh about Instagram. Combined with my own themes of letting go, and the energetic shedding happening with all the energetics, I did my own release. I made a reel and told people to come over to my email list. All of this inspired this email.

We get told so often what we should be doing, but never HOW to do it. So here are some things you can do to Release and Let Go:

  1. Read the book I mentioned above. It gives affirmations and exercises around letting go and other themes.

  2. Write things out. Feeling a lot of anxiety or fear? Write all of it down, and just get it out of your system. Naming/voicing your fears lessens their hold on you.

  3. Create mental and physical reminders. Whenever I notice I'm holding on tightly to something, if it's physical, I literally loosen my grip. If it's mental, e.g. a thought, idea, etc, I then picture my hands tightly fisted, opening up and relaxing. I've done the mental one enough times, that I can literally feel an energetic expansion in my chest when I do it now.

At the end of the day, it's all about finding solutions that work for you. These are ones that have worked for me, and they are by no means an exhaustive list.

I suspect that there is going to continue to be a lot more energetic shedding and releasing for many of us in the near future. If you're going through it, I'm always here to support you 💛
