Applying the Ethereal to the Practical
How’s that for an uninspiring title? Or, if you’re someone who’s interested in the more spiritual, metaphysical space, maybe it IS inspiring. Because I’m going to give you examples of actual ways you can do this.
I’m embarking on a little challenge for myself - creating just to create. Sharing just to share. Helping just to help. Being championed by one of my wisest friends.
The bigger leap for me, is to embrace that the ‘work’ I do, that I’m meant to do, is ethereal. It’s not pragmatic…even though I have a lot of practical and pragmatic knowledge.
And my first share - is how I’ve actually been using spiritual/metaphysical/’woo’ tools for the past couple of years.
Because so often, when we start this journey of discovering ourselves, we’re inundated with knowledge. This can be overwhelming itself, let alone when we’re left with not knowing how to do something about it. We have the unanswered “so what?” question.
I’ll start with one of the easiest to implement tools: Binaural Beats.
Binaural Beats are tones and frequencies that claim to induce the same mental state associated with meditation, but more quickly. I also find them less ‘stressful’ than trying to mediate with my monkey brain pinging thoughts all over the place.
I generally use them every day, sometimes multiple times per day. I use an app called Beatfulness. It’s low-cost, and they have a range of beats depending on what you need. Today, I was feeling meh, so I did one to raise my vibration and then a reiki track to cleanse negativity. Yesterday, I was still feeling the effects of the New Moon + finishing out my Numerology Month 9, so I did one for my lower chakras to ground myself.
I’ve been using the beats for almost a year, and I do see a difference. Even if it’s a placebo effect, I’ll take it. It’s the easiest thing to do. I turn them on, do whatever I want to do, and boom! I usually feel better.
Sometimes just taking an action is all we need to feel better.
At least that’s how I feel.
The second tool I use, is actually my newest: Numerology.
According to Kaitlyn Kaerhart:
Numerology is a cosmic code that helps you decipher your patterns, life purpose, and the messages that are being communicated to you from the universe daily.
Without taking you down the rabbit hole, the practical way I’ve been using Numerology is to plan each month depending on what Personal Month I’m in.
Last month, May, was a month 9 for me. It’s a month of endings, completion, and reflection. It was definitely a time of being in the goo. Instead of trying to power through things, I embraced and focused on what were things I could let go of - e.g. old patterns, business services, etc. When I was tired, I let myself take breaks. Knowing that I needed to care for myself during this time. When I felt the pressure to do more, I was able to remind myself that caring for myself in May would prepare me for Month 1 in June. Month 1 is about new beginnings, opportunities, and independence.
Implementing just these two tools, has allowed me to feel more in flow, more aligned. I’m working with the energy that’s out there vs against it. It satisfies my rational brain, while also fueling my soul. At the very core, it gives me permission to operate in a way that feels easy vs forcing myself to fit the hustle b.s. culture and norms of American society.
I’ll share about my most powerful tool in future blogs: Human Design. It’s something I’ve been studying for almost two years, and it’s learned in layers. Translation: it’s not an easy summary in a blog.
